Review #510

The first time I purchased a game from GamersGate, I had no problem whatsoever. I attempted to place another order with them a week later, but this time I was informed that my $10 order had been flagged for a "manual review". About a half hour later, GG cancelled my order without any kind of explanation, even though Paypal had successfully charged my card and then issued a refund after the cancellation. I contacted GG support and asked them if they would provide me with an explanation as to why the cancellation had occurred, but all they told me in response was to try placing the order again. I made another attempt at placing the order, but the transaction appeared to have failed after being redirected to Paypal's site. The status of the order on GG's site said "pending" and gave me the option to complete it, which I had attempted to do several times with the same results. It was then that I decided that this hassle wasn't worth the small amount I would be saving over the current Steam sale price, so I decided to go there instead; however, it seems that there was now a hold on my credit card. It is important to note that my initial order on GG had gone through successfully, so there was obviously no problem with my credit card prior to them randomly selecting me for some seemingly senseless "manual review". It appears that this is not an isolated incident as a web search for "gamersgate manual review" returns many results reporting similar experiences.
