Review #774

Newegg has a longstanding reputation, and is generally a good store, one from which I've bought a LOT of computer hardware from over the years. Due to this, I would recommend it for buying games, but with some caveats. First, and most relevantly, unlike most other Steam key resellers, it takes a while to get the key once a game is purchased from Newegg. I don't remember how long it took, since the one time I bought from them was a while ago, but it was at least several hours, if not close to a full day. Not a huge deal, since I'm not the type to want to play a game as soon as I buy it, but it was a bit strange and I'd still prefer to not have such a long delay. The other issues with Newegg are that it basically seems to have declined in quality over the years. It used to be my preferred store for computer parts, due to price, service, and reputation, but over time I had more and more various issues, causing me to prefer Amazon and other stores. These issues ranged from the website to policies to customer service. Despite this, for my last computer build I ended up buying most of the parts from Newegg as they had the best deals, and I didn't have any major issues (though there were one or two smaller ones). So for the same price or even a little more, I'd prefer to buy a game key from another store, but if Newegg has a really good price I wouldn't hesitate to get it there.
